What is a lens mount adapter?
A lens adapter allows you to attach a different brand of lens to your camera body, letting you use an otherwise incompatible lens with your camera.
How do I find the right lens adapter for my lens and camera?
Find your lens mount and your camera mount.
The easiest way to find and confirm your lens mount is to know the mount of the camera it was used on originally. A quick internet search of the camera model followed by lens mount is a sure way to confirm what lens mount you need. For example if you have an old Nikon lens and you know it was used on a Nikon FM2, you can easily find that the lens has a Nikon F-mount. This is particularly useful for lenses that are made for different mounts i.e Sigma and Tamron bring out the same lens with different mounts including EF, F, E so knowing the camera the lens was used on is a good shortcut.
If you have an old second hand lens and you are unsure of the camera it was made for, take all the known details of the lens and search the web.
Why buy a lens mount adapter?
To utilise quality old lenses with your new camera, or match a different make of lens to your camera.
There are countless creative experiments to be explored by mixing different brands of lenses with your camera body. Lens adapters can also help your existing collection of lenses go further with any new cameras you collect. So you can invest in a new camera and make the most of your favourite lenses.
How do you use a lens mount adapter?
Find a detailed how to for each filter at the base of its product page.
In summary, attach your lens to the adapter, and then your adapter to your camera body. Put all settings on your lens and camera into manual mode, and select ‘shoot without lens’ in your camera settings.
When should I use a lens mount adapter?
Whenever you want to use a different make of lens with your camera body.
Because you need to use your camera in full manual mode, you may need to familiarise yourself with this before shooting. You’ll soon work out which lenses you enjoy using with your camera. Analogue lenses can provide professional quality glass at a fraction of the cost of modern lenses so lens adapters can help you shoot with better lenses for less.
Can I change my aperture when using this lens mount adapter?
Only if your lens has a manual aperture control ring.
If you use a lens with electronic aperture and no manual control ring, because this lens mount adapter is fully manual, your aperture would remain at its maximum aperture (lowest f-stop).
This is a very high quality adapter with a snug fit and no play on the mount. It is also extendable, so no need for extra extension rings. Recommended for macro with vintage lenses!
It's a great tool , solid and does what it has to do (adapter from M42 to Sony E-mount). But the extra of the macro possibility makes it so versatile . Certainly with the CZJ Biotar 58mm T2 that has an MOD of 0.5m brings it to 0.25m. Super
Perfect fit, high quality, and does the job nicely. So glad I went with this product over the cheap versions on eBay because this one is designed perfectly to suit the body. Also glad I paid a bit extra for the extendable feature, just to add that bit more versatility. Very happy!
This adapter is like having a two-level focus range to manipulate the depth of field.
Not only does it shorten the focal length possible but it allows the lens to enable a greater depth of field and tame the bokeh which allows for more flexibility on closer shots not just shorter than the standard distance the lens would allow.
So, by using the extension feature on the adapter — which by the way is as smooth as butter to adjust and ergonomically simple — the focus ring on the lens can be adjusted to a position that increases the depth of focus available at a particular distance which would otherwise be impractically shallow for a specific subject matter, such as an insect or small flower.
This can then allow for a much more congruent and pleasing level of focus content.
The two methods of focusing, one on the Urth M42 Extendable adapter and the other using the focus ring on the lens itself, can be balanced to create a more desirable or manageable DoF for artistic pleasure. Brilliant!
So, not only does it allow for focus at closer distances it also allows for greater flexibility over the amount of focus available.

For art to have an impact, it needs to be experienced. By linking a gallery-grade giclee print to an NFT, art can live in the world and exist beyond it.
Every Urth Art NFT comes with the rights to 1 physical print, custom made and marked with a unique identifying code. So authenticity can be verified and ownership can be guaranteed.
This means your art not just holds value, but can grow as an investment whilst honouring the artist’s vision for their work to leave a real impression on the world.
As a living contract, Urth Art NFTs allow a single piece of art to plant 10 trees upon its initial purchase and every following sale, offsetting the NFT’s carbon footprint and creating an ongoing positive impact on the planet.
As a tool for empowering artists, Urth Art NFTs ensure artists are fairly compensated. We give artists the power to set the price of their art, and NFTs allow artists to earn royalties any time their work is resold.
Urth Art streamlines the way you buy and own NFTs. From purchasing NFTs directly through our online store to helping set up crypto wallets and custom printing your art, we support collectors every step of the way.
Urth Art NFTs are custom printed and framed so you can experience their full impact in person.
Partnering with a local Australian archival framer, Urth Art prints are framed with sustainably sourced timber to display the artwork, without damaging the environment. And to bring the gallery experience home, Urth Art prints are protected by art-grade acrylic glazing that prevents fading and discolouration.
NFTs are an evolution to the way art is collected and owned.
By purchasing an artwork linked to an NFT, you gain the contract of ownership that proves your art is undeniably authentic and original. It also proves that the work belongs to you. As a collector, you have a way of verifying that your artwork is not a replica or a copy, which has long been an issue for physical and digital art. This all means your art can hold more value.
As Urth Art NFTs are made and can be easily traded on the Ethereum blockchain, it also means you can directly sell your art to a growing world of collectors should you decide to part with it.
Go to metamask.io and select the Android or iOS mobile application. You can also go directly to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store on your mobile device. If you download MetaMask on a desktop or laptop, you won’t be able to view your NFT, so we recommend using a mobile device.
Important note: When installing MetaMask, you will be prompted to secure your wallet by backing up your Secret Recovery Phrase, or ‘seed phrase’. It’s very important that you do this step and record your seed phrase in a safe location. If you lose this, you can lose access to your NFT and there is no way to recover it.
Download MetaMask here.
Make sure your wallet is set to Ethereum Main Network. If you have just installed MetaMask, this is the default network.
Important note: If you send us a wallet address for another network, you may lose your NFT.
Tap on the abbreviated address below the account name to copy your Ethereum wallet address to your clipboard.
Please login to your Urth customer account and click on your order number. This will bring you to a page where you can share your Ethereum wallet address with us.
If you checked out as a guest, please get in touch to share your wallet details.
Paste the copied Ethereum wallet address into the ‘Your wallet address’ field and hit enter to send it to us.
Once we have received your wallet address, we will transfer your NFT. Please allow up to 3 working days for this transfer to be completed.
You are now the owner of a verified authentic and limited artwork. Welcome to the future of art collecting, where physical meets digital.
